HEATH SPEEDWELL Veronica officinalis

This perennial herb has a trailing/ ascending stem that grows up to 40 cm. It has many pale lilac flowers which may be seen flowering December to January.

Introduced to the Falkland Islands and naturalised, very rare but grows at Stanley and on West Falkland (recorded at Dunbar). Grows in gardens and built-up areas and dwarf shrub heath. Heath Speedwell originated in Northern Europe.
